Garrison Working Toward CMP Designation!
Garrison attended the previously mentioned three-day HSMAI meeting to earn points toward qualifying to sit for the *Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) exam, a professional development goal she has set forth for herself within the next year.

*The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation is the foremost certification program of today’s meetings, conventions, and expositions industry. Candidates for the CMP must complete an extensive application where points are awarded for experience in meeting management, management and responsibility, education and continuing education, membership in professional organizations, and professional contributions to the industry. When approved, CMP candidates participate in online self-study courses, complete the two required textbooks and when possible share in a study course with fellow exam-takers. This designation recognizes those who have achieved the industry’s highest standards of professionalism. Established by the Convention Industry Council (CIC), The CMP was developed to increase the proficiency of meeting professionals in any component or sector of the industry by:

  • Identifying a body of knowledge,

  • Establishing a level of knowledge and performance necessary for certification,

  • Stimulating the advancement of the art and science of meeting management,

  • Increasing the value of practitioners to their employers,

  • Recognizing and raising industry standards, practices, and ethics.
